For Poets Who Put Down Others' Poetry Poem by Jackie Chou

For Poets Who Put Down Others' Poetry

Rating: 5.0

I commend you
for writing poetry
for writing good poetry

the way words come to you
like a soaring swallow
a koi in a pond

For some of us
it's more like
pulling a stubborn tooth
waiting for a wayward lover
lost in some distant meadow
to show up

Our wings may be
broken or askew
but we try our best

Jackie, you have perfectly captured the creative process through your powerful similes and metaphors. A wonderful poem!

'but we try our best', good for you, very nice poem, too. Also, very true.
