Silence Is Safe Poem by I write because I have to

silence is safe
but everything about you screams danger
your faces betray you
and I'm not on your side
to me you're a stranger

your eyes are feats of blind deceit
never again will I close my eyes
and fold your lies on the dotted lines
so they look like beautiful designs
silence is safe
this time I spotted your crimes

rather than pretend to mend
with lies you cry when you offend
I'll seek shelter, solace
some perfect place far from your face
far from all you represent
until the horizon swallows you
and all the sludge you had me wallow through
the one lesson I learned from your lies of defiance:

that silence is safe...there's safety in silence
