Shine Poem by Shane Dickie

Shine

This man is different; he is odd,
This woman is weird; who is behind
The façade.
Cast in shame are these
Our hearts filled with distain we
Feel for these people, in our eyes
Hardly embodying the walk of fame,
Yet what sets these people apart
From the rest? Is it ugliness or
Uniqueness, the kind we see on the
Television screen every day,
What separates him from the
Actor who takes home pay?

Yet we ostracize these folk,
With reckless abandon,
Never stopping to think,
How we chose to glorify,
To shun, maybe we all
Deserve to shine like the sun
