Shame On You Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Shame On You

Shame on you

Mahmoodi was a man.

As we heard for some time
He was kept in a bag.

Who was he?

That is the story.

He was boss in Bandar
But now kept in a bag
He made love in office
Secretary
His lover was married.

She,
As we heard,
Worked two jobs
Office work and his pimp

Mahmoodi was taboo
And rumors plenty
What was right?
What was wrong?
I just heard till that day.

I saw him wash his hands.
I saw him wash his face.
No contact eye to eye; face to face.

So I wrote as if he
And he talked to water
“Nobody was aware
Only you, the water
When she washed, bathed in you
You felt her and knew
You knew our secret, you betrayed.”
I felt that he murmured “Shame on you.”
