Shaman Chant Me A Charm Poem by Lovita Morang

Shaman Chant Me A Charm

Shaman chant me a charm

In shamanic myth,
I will chant
the charms of diety
In folktales,
mountain diety shall shelter
the fairies in their shrine

Seventh evening,
moon lights ebbing
Last day the Herdsman praying
and the weaver birds spinning
On velvety leaves, With mates
the ladybirds playing
Doe-eyed fawn fumbling
In the precinct of the forest
Origin of orbiting oracle
Herdsman gaze at star,
and waits for miracle
Aquila constellate
Spinning
Vega in the Lyra,
are in love
Meets in myth
but years end
and meets end once a year—
day become month,
There is a milky bridge

crows and magpies cross and fly
Rivers in heavens,
On this night
it is customary be merry
young O widow, O women sew,
spin the wheel,
I will come
to honor the stars
that you have woven
in gamik
I will come
with notebook and a pen
by penning verse about the gamiks
And your bethroded love, talk
in silk threads, stories in gamiks
I will play flute made of reed
In human world to feign no harm, hum
And to the shaman, plead
to chant me a charm.
