Shadows Of The Day Poem by Herbert Dry

Shadows Of The Day

There are no shadows in the darkest
night
For a shadow to be there must be
light

Shadows cast to no
avail
Without light shadows
fail

On their own they do not
exist
In light of day a shadow follows
me it cannot
resist

Guided by sun they move west to
east
At noon they are at their
least

A shadow cannot be caught or
contained
A shadow will not get wet in
rain

I too like a shadow must have guiding
light
I cast no shadow in the darkness of the
night
