A Gentle Summer Rain Poem by Herbert Dry

A Gentle Summer Rain

The greater the love the greater
the pain
Hand in hand we walk in a welcomed and gentle
summer rain

We have walked together hand in hand in joy
and sorrow
Hand in hand we walked together the things of
tomorrow we would not
borrow

No greater love has either
ever found
We looked at each other from that moment
our hearts for ever
bound

We never entertained the thought when one
would pass away
Hand in hand we walked as one from our path
we would never part

Then upon that dreadful day one looked at
the other
Hand in hand we walked through the years hand in
hand we cannot walk
any further

The greater the love the greater the pain no more
walking hand in hand in the welcomed
summer rain
