Separate Cat Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Separate Cat

Rating: 2.8

I have a cat
who lounges languidly,
who paws the air
and stares at me.

I stroke his fur
whenever he tells me to
and, of course,
I buy the cat food.

Some days he darts away
when he sees me
other days
he is in my lap
insistently.

I have a cat
or does he have me?

I can't risk
separation
to find out
which
is
which.

Delightful creatures aren't they...and I'm afraid you can never own a cat....they own you: 0)) ...Fi
