See, see, my Monsignor,
Take Time at least day by day,
Not year by year, or
Week by week:
But even hour by hour take
And every hour that be gained, is gained.
So let me do this year: at least
To it have I little alternative:
With all the daggers in my direction drawn
And on my head already I see
The crown of red and bloody martyrdom.
