Secrets Poem by Debbie Kingsmill

Secrets

I was angry as a child for secrets I had to keep.
You hurt me over and over even in my sleep.

The pain was unbarable the older I became.
Expecially when I understood how the pain began.

You hurt me with what you did and I will always see.
because uncle the pain you caused is in my memorie.

I've waited all my life for love and all my life to live.
But how can I do either if I can't learn to for give.

But how can I forgive you with what you took from me.
when I was but a child and much to young to flee.

'I've waited all my life for love and all my life to live': they're very fine verses. And again: 'But how can I do either if I can't learn to for give? ' expresses another truth: the resolution of the conflicts enables to love. And to live.
