Science Offers A Godless Miracle Poem by Paul Hartal

Science Offers A Godless Miracle

Mainstream scientists don't believe in miracles.
They say that miracles are incompatible with science,
because supernatural events violate the laws of nature.

Nevertheless, cosmologists and astrophysicists present
their own fundamental miraculous event through
the Big Bang Theory. The origins of the theory reach
back to the 1920s when astronomer Edwin Hubble
discovered that, rather than being static, the universe
was expanding.

Now scientists claim that about 13.8 billion years ago
the universe was born out of a singularity,
a hypothetical dimensionless point of zero volume
with infinite density that contained all
of the matter and energy in the universe.
So the world was born when the deep and primordial
nothing exploded in a gigantic firecracker.

This theory of the creation of the cosmos, something
out of nothing, parallels the Biblical story
in Genesis wherein God also creates the world
ex nihilo, out of nothing. However, the scientific theory
emerges as a bizarre and secular postmodern myth
that involves even a greater miracle than the Biblical
story itself. This is so because in the Big Bang Theory
the universe springs into existence without the will
and intervention of a Divine Creator.

Paul, if you get a chance read a prose article of mine posted on this site titled On The Existence Of God and also another piece posted here as well titled Child Of Nature. I have also written a couplet which briefly states one of my views on the matter of creation: - Natural selection seems to be another term for the will of God operating in creation and evolution is the overall process through which It maintains this vital relation.
