Salt And Pepper Poem by Randy McClave

Salt And Pepper

See that man or woman in a nice suit
It doesn't mean that they have a nice soul or a lot of loot,
To me that doesn't at all impress
Just how a person looks, or how they dress.

Is that person over there wearing a smile
Or are they showing a grin or maybe even some guile,
Only they know what they are showing
And only they know what in their soul is growing.

Hear that person speaking with a silver tongue
How he loves to help people he has many times sung,
But, then is he just another lying politician
Or maybe instead he is a magician.

See that happy caring couple sitting over there
Watch them as they say a prayer,
You would believe unto them great fortunes are in store
But, they hate a lot people especially the needy and the poor.

Hear that person calling me on the phone
How they want to help me with my finances with a loan,
They are such a caring and helpful person
Them I wonder will I ever be ignoring or cursin'.

Listen to that man who says that he's a Christian
To him others do spiritually listen,
But, then about the love of Jesus he doesn't ever speak
He instead talks of hatred and judging and not turning the other cheek.

See that man who donated his change, he's a millionaire
See the expensive clothes that he does wear.
Now see that people who donates dollars whenever they pass
They are the poor and the middle class.

Watch that poor man walking alone in the dark
Collecting papers and cans and sleeping in the park,
He feeds the squirrels and helps for free at every charity
He never judges or hates and never speaks with vulgarity.

Be careful on who you believe and who you should trust
And before you think who is honest and just,
Before you ever accuse and before you ever blame
Remember this, salt and sugar looks the same.
