Sacred Ballads Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Sacred Ballads

At glow of eventide I ponder
when all the world is still
I hear the gentle voices singing
two songs upon the hill...
Adam's The Holy City
and Sullivan's Lost Chord.

I oft' confuse these ballads
similar from days of yore,
praising the Cross of Calvary
paying homage to the Lord.

As the chanting dies away
like golden daffodils of spring,
my heart sends thanks unto the Lord
and once again true voices sing:
Adam's The Holy City
and Sullivan's Lost Chord.
