(s) Words Poem by Angela Dodge

(s) Words

I exorcise my demons with words
Daily, I write and write
I discard and I write again
Words are powerful talismans

I write of my past, of failures and progress
I write of those who are missed
I write of those who are not
I write and I let it all go

Sometimes, words flow like blood from an open wound
Other times, the scab must be picked at for the release to begin
Most times, they start and stop, like gasping for air
After a deep gut-punch

Always, the words and the act of writing
The release of emotions
The force put into the words
Bring a sense of peace
When the maelstrom stops,
When the storm of verbiage ceases

I may not write well
But I write to stay sane
And I write, ultimately,
For me
