S.E.P.T.U.A.G.E.N.A.R.I.A.N Poem by Richard St. Clair

S.E.P.T.U.A.G.E.N.A.R.I.A.N

To My Brother Jeff

So take heart, dear brother, just one day,
Events like birthdays don't mean all that much,
Predetermined, one more day as such,
Then another, time does not delay!
Upon your seventieth birthday, just endure
And take this milestone equably in stride:
Goodness! Older is a badge of pride,
Even though our hearts and minds demur!
Naturally in this sad day and age
All the media extol eternal youth;
Ridiculous, you say, but that's the truth:
Illusion now commands the center stage.
And so I send you this, a winsome song,
Now that you're in "the club" - be gay, live long!
