Ruby Red Slippers Poem by Paula Glynn

Ruby Red Slippers

I love my ruby red slippers, she says,
Let the white light guide you,
Towards a peaceful, exotic garden,
And find yourself a solution,
Be your own friend,
Like my ruby red slippers, don't pretend.

Don't talk down, look up,
Don't let the superglue get you stuck,
It is up to you, it is your clue,
Don't lie to yourself,
Don't lie to me,
Don't destroy and don't fib,
Because this situation is up to you.

Talk fast, think fast,
Be yourself, tap your ruby red slippers,
Send yourself home.
Know your enemy,
Keep your guard up,
Keep your mind free and clear,
Hide those fears: don't give them power.

Keep your own power and be wise,
Don't let them know who you despise,
Let yourself be knowledgeable and wise,
Don't let them judge your size,
Whatever you may be.

Stay healthy, look after yourself,
Create a perfect world,
Where you're full of wealth,
And look after number one,
Don't let anyone take your health,
Because you are flush and have ruby red slippers,
And it will be forever before you are dead,
So don't let yourself die early instead.

You need to work hard, play hard and think hard,
And have expertise when playing those cards.
Don't label yourself a fool,
Because you are too cool.
Don't let yourself drown in the rain,
Don't let others judge you and show distain.

Be your ruby red slippers and be your own person,
Make your attractiveness, whether male or female,
One of your priorities and your personality unique,
And enjoy your home, no matter the paintwork.
Watch whatever film or TV show you wish,
And don't let others influence you in any way,
Because you are truly ruby red and must be true,
To your wants, desires and decisions,
So be firm within yourself and live for yourself,
And let your ruby red slippers take you home.
