Round Two Poem by Joe Filipiak

Round Two

Had a bout with cancer,
a few short years ago.
I beat it to a pulp,
and told it where to go.

It was no easy task,
it was a formidable foe.
It took everything I had,
to beat the so and so.

Prayers for healing,
from friends and family,
helped me beat the cancer,
that was fighting me.

Never did I waiver,
or run away and hide.
I faced the ugly disease,
I had Jesus on my side.

I asked God to cure me,
I prayed and prayed and prayed.
Upon my weary body,
His healing hand he laid.

I've enjoyed these few years,
without the cursed C,
but learned the other day,
it wants another go at me.

Test results are back,
and I know what I have to do.
Got to get back in the ring,
score a knockout in round two.

I can't give up, I won't give up,
it's not in my DNA.
I'm going to keep on fighting,
until this cancer goes away.

I've got a loving husband,
and a son that I adore,
two very good reasons,
to win this cancer war.

I ask for one big favor,
from friends and family,
every chance you get,
say a prayer for me.
