Roller Coaster Ride Poem by Danny Ballan

Roller Coaster Ride

It's like a roller-coaster ride.
One day we'll understand the purpose
Of this thrilling journey we take
The moment we decide to be alive
And the lessons the clearer it makes.

When we are up high we see the next slope,
And when we're down we always know there is yet a rise;
And the truth we learn about ourselves
Like riding the cable car high up to the mountain peak
When we're up we look down to the people below,
We see how small and insignificant they are;
We know then how big and important we are,
But the truth is if you look through their eyes
They see us as small, too.

It's the sunny days that make us all the same,
But the storms make us stand out;
And only when the storm comes,
No matter what we might say before,
It's what we do when it comes that matters more.
And the smile we put on our faces then
Is the thing that makes all the difference.
