Roisin Murphy Poem by Daniel McDonagh

Roisin Murphy

Roisin Murphy is a Parkhead ghirl,
She has never left the east end to see the world,
She may have been to Germany, Portugal and Spain
Only because that was were the Celtic were playing.

Her mother and father are originally from Derry
And left before the Troubles decimated the city,
Five children they raised, devout in their faith
Celtic Park on a Saturday, Mass on a Sunday.

If she is not over at Parkhead supporting the Timalloys
She will be at the Barrowlands singing along with Charlie & The Bhoys,
For refreshment she will wander into Bairds or Bar 67
Were a pint of Magners cider is always waiting.

Her holidays growing up were visiting old Ireland
But her dream is to visit the Pope in the Vatican,
For now, she is contempt standing at her own Holy Ground
Watching the Glasgow Celtic, listening to the Celtic sound.
