Rising Sun Poem by David Harris

Rising Sun

Rating: 4.8

In the solace of the morning
just after dawn has broken
the blue sky beneath the clouds
appear as the sun struggles
to break through for another day.

The birds have woken,
their voices ring out
with other early morning calls
to greet the beginning
of a brand new day.

I sit alone and watch
as the morning begins
to unfold before me.
Watching the cracks in the clouds widen
to greet the sun for another warm summers day.

Windows reflect the rising sun
as it lights up more of the sky.
Birds and animals move around
awaken by the brand new day
followed by more sleepy heads
thinking of the day’s work to be done.

And so starts the ritual
that brings the summer sun
to the faces of everyone
In the hours just after the new day has begun
to grace us with another summer’s day.
