Rhyme And Time

Rating: 5.0

A novelist-turned-poet,
used to spending long hours
at prose,
took to complex rhyme
to spend long hours
at poems.

With nostalgia for tales,
facility,
exhaustion,
and 'The Dynasts',
a tale poem of great length,
came loss of strength.

Thomas Hardy is, as you show, a unique example of a novelist turned poet. 'The Dynasts' would not be an easy poem to read, like most very long poems, I think.
