Rescue Poem by Shruti Goswami

Rescue

The wind, howling, bellowing;
Out side my window,
It’s a dark rainy night,
And I am not rescued:
Where is my dark knight?
I wake up, shivering, shaking with pain,
A cold sweat, running down,
Covered my thinly clad frame.
I wanted to scream, no sound emerged,
Just a stifled moaning, in the gale submerged.
Gutting down through my stomach, a dumb scream,
Wants to be born, in reality,
Refuses, to be a dream.
What words of consolation, in cruelty,
What an act of kindness!
Should I feel obliged? I am astounded by your blindness.
I am not helpless, you know, waiting to be rescued,
I don’t demand attention, I need not be pursued
A simple need, that’s all there is to fulfill,
Let the winds howl, and moan at will,
All I say, is, love me, then leave me,
Let me live, or die,
You need not turn back, to see.
But pray do not leave,
Without loving me.
