Remembering Vietnam Poem by kriss hughes

Remembering Vietnam

Rating: 5.0

i wake up, screaming
cold sweat
dripping down my forehead
a memory
flashes in front of me
all those names
lined up in rows
all those families
most people dont even know
why am i the one
still here, alive
why?
why?
why couldnt i have died?
all those names
they leave me feeling weak
like everything around me
is crashing down
i just want to lay here and weep
weep for the lives lost
weep for the sacrifice
not only the sacrifice
of their own life
but of their families lives also.
