Red Satin Madonna Poem by Kevin Patrick

Red Satin Madonna

She lit matchsticks on the wings of angels
And laughed at the tear stains of hell
Feasting on crows and scar tissue roses
Flirting where Prometheus dwelled

Her gown was a shroud of oblivion
Prophesising nubile Visitations
A crown of gold flies was her laurels
Muse for a heretics Dissertations

She journeyed through valleys of dawn
And over the mountains of midnight
Walking through an ocean of sand
Guided to a lighthouses of twilight

Books that she wrote were of virtues
Beyond worlds of good and evil
leading worshipers in silk and leather
With wisdom regal and primeval

And the words kissed from her violet lips
Uttered with savage smiles
as she raised her arms to the red mass
and said damnation is mans desire
