Red Riding Poem by Mellisa Salazar

Red Riding

Our wounds are fresh,

we may lose hope quick

But that doesn't mean we're lost

Nothing can shake us off our horses now

Were telling them who's boss

And we have got our eyes on you

And we have got our hearts there too

Hold me brothers arm in arm

Hold me sisters heart to heart

We're on a road to a new start

And there is nothing in our way

The sun is shining down on us

And we are feeling loved because

we have finally found each other

in California's perfect weather

We are riding up together

With our sweet wind as a sweater

Critters buzzing all around

And not a thought around to make us frown

The eagle helps to guide the way

In the red shadow of his wing we stay

With no more time to bite and kick

Not another fight or word to pick

Heavens closing in on us

And we are feeling loved because

We have left a life that's wrecked

And are headed to get our bags checked

And we may sure have no idea

What it is that we may find

And we sure may have no idea

What it is we've left behind

But we know we have eachother

We have us, our whole tribe, and

The sun is shining down on us

And we are feeling loved because

We have a group of rebel rousers

Riding side by side

And we will cross the battle fields

where the arrows will fly

as canon smoke fills the sky

But we won't even hear a sound

Because there's something in our eyes

a blaze of fire that pulls and drives

We have our heart beats to drown the cries

We follow behind our Chief in line

We sit in a circle side by side

But together we stand taller than it all

And together we're love all in all

The sunsets over and over again

But you never get tired when you've got a friend

There's nothing that I'd rather do

than,

to ride together with all of you
