Red Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Red

The blood drip, the Vampire's snack,
The valentine's day heart.
The foil wrapping this day's heart shaped chocolate.
The flashes in the hearth fire,
The flames of an old love,
The volcanic spew contained in the air,
The slope covered with the same,
All the red alerts to save all lives,
The stop sign, the stop light, the ambulance siren,
The police siren and the fire engine color.
The nature's reds.
The humingbird's meal, the apple, the strawberry.
Clay and brick and Santa's suit.
God's very first color of the rainbow,
That wet refraction of seven colors,
This red which then will disappear into drier white.
The slowest speed color,
Which so brightens up all around me.
It makes me so happy, the color red.
