Reaching For The Stars Poem by Zubaida Boland

I tried to reach for the stars 
They were too high 
So I climbed up the stairs 
To find theme there 
On the palms of my hands 
Shining as usual 
As I was in the middle of my way 
I felt something similar to an earthquake 
And then it seemed like my soul had left my body 
I started falling 
I was so scared 
The fall seemed to be so long 
As if there were no end to it 
Floating in the air 
So scared of the unknown 
Then, all has come to an end 
Turned out to be a person 
So cruel has kicked my stairs 
She actually broke my leg 
Before I said A word 
She said ' you forgot to put on your gloves 
For the stars might hurt '
