Ramble Of Human Nature Poem by Shelby Barker

Ramble Of Human Nature

piano-playing fingers
make melodies marked by ambiguity
in the mind of the selfish genius
They mime each of his acts
of injustice they charade
his cunning Acts of Kindness
The shallow man preaches
that one must find redemption in
the way their words are heard
by others and how firmly
they push their toes on the pedals
the reward of a good deed done is pride
mimed by the organ pipes
the bony sticks with generous curves
lift up in desperate want to be
saved the sticks they wave goodbye and
hello and open doors for little children
but everything they do, thought for
thy others and thy idol
is solely for thy self
no matter the selfless intentions to be
accepted by Founding Fathers the
most respected man is kidding himself
and ignoring the rhythm below melody
disguising it as background noise and
claiming Restless Hand Syndrome
