Rainforest Poem by Luqman Khatri

Rainforest

I went to the rainforest
With grass to trees
With puddles to rivers
With elephants to bees

I went to the rainforest
With green leaves
And red flowers
And blue skies

I went to the rainforest
With sticky air
And slimy leaves
And no silence

I went to the rainforest
With death around the corner
From quicksand to jaguars
From bees to snakes

I went to the rainforest
With crispy crunchy leaves
With fish like sharks
With grass as needles

I went to the rainforest
The river flowing loudly
The fish jumping high
And landing with a splash
