Rain Talk Poem by Irina Doichinova

Rain Talk

And the rain
Hushed the engines -
I can hear
Verses now.
Thunders -
Bass and distant,
Then angry, loud -
Relief, quiet -
The rain is a boom
And the thunders are power
Released with love
Even when angrily
They tear the silence.
Cool fingers are touching
My heated skin,
Showery the water falls
Over imaginary
Forests without end.
Little drops parlent
On my balcony.
The curtain
Suddenly rushes outside.
I pull it back.
A thunder -
Exquisite, loud -
I jump.
Fear?
Why should I fear
The anger of God
When love is in its core?
Yet the peaceful murmur,
Silencing the city
Giving voice to the leaves
Is what I long to hear.

Rain, speak to me,
Rain embrace me
With your coolness
Like you did
When barefoot
I stepped in the grass -
Remind me,
Tell me again -
What have I lost?
