Race Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Race

Race

Once when a lieutenant
-I went to commander
-was called in

Had resigned of my job
- what is this?
-tell me why?
-he ordered
-commanded…

I was in control
-sir, this is end of line
-I came for a big race
-competing to rise high
-I am now at the peak
-I am not a stick
-to be pushed in ground
-in sewage be swamped

He heard me and could feel
-he liked me
-wanted me
-and tried charmingly
-to convince and keep me

I stood firm and fought
-till found way to be out
-made it back in class
-studied and changed me

Now again time has come
-time to leave
-time to go
-time to fight
-time to change
-but this time it must match
-with what has come along…
