Race Poem by Evangeline Ray

Race

I got only two seconds
Before I started my race
And I let no thoughts in
For I knew I need to concentrate.
My starting was good
Mind strong and body fit
Confidence in its prime
I ran, ran and ran
My eyes could see only the finishing line
And I heard nothing but my own breath
Neither I saw my friends
Nor I heard their 'up, up'
There wasn`t a sky or an earth
But only the wind
Who followed me or just ran with me.
Today I stand on the finishing line
Half-smilinf, half-wondering, half-confused
Is this all?
What all would have happened while I was running?
What`s next?
