Quietness Of The Grave Poem by Babatunde Aremu

Quietness Of The Grave

It's dawn of a new day
A sudden departure from the past
As I gazed into the sky
To admire nature at it's best
My thoughts were ensnared
By half full moon
Well guided around by galaxies of stars
With hosting sky appearing plain,
Still, quiet and immobile
It was quiet as the grave.

I wondered why the unusual quietness
Then I returned to mother earth
Trees refused to whisper nor move
No breeze, wind or storm
Birds even refused to sing
Neither is any ready to fly
Streets are empty
No movement, no honking
Imams are dead silent on morning prayers
Evangelists stayed away from souls

Then I became confused
On why nothing is moving
I became worried about man
Why the sudden disappearance
Where goes yesterday's ratzmatazz
I suddenly discovered that
There's a ravenous virus
Marauding nations of the world
Turning our world to grave
Causing fear and unusual silence.
