Protest - They Call Our Life Poem by Floy Dy Ra Aka Floyd Floydson

Protest - They Call Our Life

Rating: 5.0

I always was that fish who was
swimming against the stream
I always was that guide who had
collected other music or books
than the mainstream
I always was the one who´s thinking
was a big different from others
I always was that kind of man
who lives in another way than others
in the beginning it was not a protest
but a different view at things like my brothers

I wasn´t gay or had problems with adults
but my look at things had change my own results
I wasn´t conform with many rules we learnt
but inside my heart a special flame burns
I wasn´t someone who imitates others
but I was the one who connected us brothers
I did distribute flyers of our own future
but did come in conflict with the system that bothers

I had fight for justice in wages and gender
but the police trimmed the protest down
I found my own way to protest against war
but also the many who walked on the street
were beaten and captured and charged and ignored
but we learnt about solidarity and humanity
and how to fight with unity
we had written letters and wrote petitions
that was our protest becoming our mission

We had our Yearning for peace
our Equality before the law
we had learnt how to fight and how to get
what we wanted and stay together in a row
we realized that we are our future
that we get no rights without fight
and that Government call it protest
but for US it´s our life
our doing one´s best our right
our so called Protest but it´s alright
our life of responsibility
our brotherhood of reality
that what makes mankind alive.
