Promises To You Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Promises To You

I'm dancing tonight in candlelight
amid friendly and considerateliqueur bottles
and memories both pleasant and painful.

There is always a melody in my heart
and a song within reach
like a life preserver in an ocean of need.

I conjure poetry from thin air
because I need beauty to survive;
I dream of your prettiest skirts
and my life seems to have occurred in a dream.

I made promises to you
though they were never spoken;
and wherever you're at,
I know you completely understand.

Perhaps, one of us is happy,
I can learn to live with that.
