Promises Poem by Natasha Sharma

Promises

Rating: 5.0

I treasure those moments frozen in my heart,
When I believed we would never part;
Alas! Ages between us Time has swept,
A promise was broken, a promise was kept;

The cold I felt seemed to rise from your end,
The pangs to it, did your bitterness lend?
From fire to ice I saw you go,
The sun had set, why, I don’t know.

I cherished you in my poems and songs,
I cursed you for all the rights and wrongs,
I had promised to love, I had promised to stay,
Love I do, but now I’m far away.

A perfect poem in fine format and apt diction though the theme has the touch of melancholy and a little dejection in effect. Good poetry appears to be safe in your hands when the very writing excels in English and Expression. All the best ahead, Natasha.
