Pressure Poem by I write because I have to

Pressure

The weight of the pressure was unrelenting
ribs on the verge of break
I need a break, an escape
from the ache that I am circumventing
Road signs are hard to read when you can't see
and can hardly breathe
and regardless of the darkness
each step forward that we are thrust into the light we trust
is two steps further into lies and dusk
Sometimes detour is the best direction
and looking back in introspection
Karma is just symmetry -
angle of incidence equals angle of reflection
I'm reflecting
The burden I shoulder pushing me down
is the same weight below pulling me deeper
and depending on which way I frown
the journey is down or the uphill is steeper
To put pressure into perspective
my collective thoughts are only distraught
because I sought affirmation opposite my prime directive
and didn't heed what I was taught
Failure is just practice and success is just a grade on a test
and the final exam is all about how you deal with what you get
Now that's pressure
