Prepared Poem by Muriel Ruth Emerson

Prepared

You say you want to figure me out
So be prepared
Bring a flash light
Because inside me is as dark as the night sky
When the bats come out of the cave
Bring garlic
To keep away the flesh eating vampires
That sucks all the good out
Bring a suite of armor
To get past the demons
The ones from the past and the present
Bring bandages
To cover the blood after my black hole sucks you in
Still want to figure me out
Go ahead just be prepared
