Precious Moment. Poem by Dave Dafes

Precious Moment.

Sat we side by side on the balcony,
Drown in the evening waft,
We together savor the luminous scenery,
Watching time go by,

Scotch in tumbler garnish with chilled rocks,
Our fingers clap the Cuban,
Oozing off a mixture of alcohol & cigar scent,
Out of our nasal chimneys spewed we,
The atmosphere with our puff,

Tete-a- tete we chatter away the events of the day,
Politics, Art and the daily headlines,
Any topic that stimulate our minds,
A daily habit unwilling to break,
We often chitchat into the night, smelling the roses,

Our worries and cares fade into the starry night,
The world echoes from a great mile away,
On our shoulder, rest each a belle,
To consummate the eventide,

Gradually we unites the content of the bottles,
With the liquor in our bloated bellies,
Drunk as a fish we criticize each other’s flaws,
As we appraise each other’s talent,
While hitting on each other’s girl,
As we tease one another,

The joy of bachelorhood,
Being able to share our precious moment,
With the guys as we share our favorite cognac,
Clubbing, cheering for our favorite teams,
Partying and chasing after skirts,
Discussing the events of the day,
Not given a damn about the unknown morrow,
With belle in arms, our precious moment became.
