Precious Man Poem by Azeem Islam

Precious Man

Precious Man

Who was he?

He was an orphan

He was trustworthy

He was true

He was born in the desert

Where women were buried alive

Where slaves were oppressed

Where men used to buy new women every day

Where women were considered animals

Where sons used to marry mothers

Where blood was shed on the stones

Where humanity had died

Where the law was changed at will

There one day a new day began

A precious person was born that day

He was different from all of them

Bright, honest, truthful, trustworthy

He was famous in the city

Everyone was crazy about him

Everyone loved him

But for forty years,

Then he fought against the evils of society.

A lot of cruelty was done to him.

Accusations were made against him.

Stones were thrown at him.

But he stood, he stood.

He stood against oppression, oppression and ignorance

For humanity

For truth, for truth

Who was he?

Today the world knows him as a great leader.
