Pond Dipping Poem by Alison Gaff

Pond Dipping

Pond dipping can be exciting
Just wonder what you'll find
As you dip your net and pull it up
To see the creatures of all kind

There could be waterboat-men
Who swim upon their backs
Great diving beetles and water fleas
And dragonfly larva on the attack

You may even spy a little frog
And laugh at his crazy swim
With someone there to help you look
Everyone can join in

Remember when your finished
Put things back from whence they came
Cos then when you visit next time
You can dip the pond again

Now you've finished dipping
You could take a walk
Looking for some damselflies
Or bugs on grassy stalk
