Poetry The Analysis Poem by Alex Deacon

Poetry The Analysis

Rating: 5.0

The sound of rain
Is that an obvious choice to pick?
When writing a poem.
What makes a poem?
More importantly what makes a poet?
Is there actually beauty in what is written?
Or is it what is actually perceived from the text?
Perception and imagination go hand in hand
It takes both to understand poetry.
But in honesty some of it is,
Well it rhymes with tollocks.
A poet is surely an observer
And it takes a poet to know a poem.
So observe this.
Prosper and unite in all that is good,
And conceal the bad in toothpaste and spot remover.

What makes a poem? I think Coleridge nails it - Poetry, the best words in the best order.

Can poetry not be blunt, Joshua? I hope to create poetry that makes people just think fair play, I get you.

Poetry is like language, putting life into words. I personally like the macabre poetry as life ultimately ends in death. I feel poetry should still be on the emotional side, which is really ironic as I am not a real emotional person. That is, compared to some of the fluff and nonsense out here. But, I digress.
