Poetry: Leaves Poem by Roann Mendriq

Poetry: Leaves

Rating: 5.0

"Oh no! we've changed from green to brown! "
The little leaves wailed in a pout;
Till Mother Tree in russet gown,
explained what change was all about...

"When you were green you clung to me,
Too scared to leave, too shy to fly;
But soon you will be windborne free,
To play with breezes from the sky! "

The little leaves left in delight,
now happy in their amber smocks,
They fluttered in the pale twilight,
with people on their evening walks...

Their gift was rich, fit for a queen,
a carpet of bright tangerine...
