Poem 156 Poem by Elvis Lantan

Poem 156

I love you when you are in a quiet stare
Away from me—
When I whisper, ‘I love you’
And my words do not reach you

When you are gone
When you are quiet
When you are like the night
Calm and alone

I love you
You are like my soul—
My soul which is written on the moon
On the water and the air

When you are in a dead mood
As if you have disappeared
As if you’ve gone away

I love you when you are silent
And the night kisses your lips
When the stars reflect your eyes
And your voice has flown away

You are simple
Like a rose
Or the setting sun

I love you when you are quiet
Because you’ve flown away
As if you’re hurt or dead
And I can taste your life

A simple word of yours
A simple laugh—
A rose or a setting sun
And I am content
I have not lost you
