Plato's Cave Poem by Brandon Nothing

Plato's Cave

Dear friend, how is it going?
Splinters, pieces of a story for you to understand
It would seem to me that we are growing apart
I can’t stop lying, but you seem to know
I may be made of glass but you can’t see a thing
Which one of us is told, time and time?
They’re the exact same thing but one our mind is sparing
You can follow me through my diluted airing
Faded from a journey’s reflection
My cuffs take a firm hold on me
Stalagmites cradle me to sleep
My dreams are darker than midnight
Embarrassed by your undoubted insight
You want me to give up my beliefs
But what gave you the right to the throne?
When I close my eyes the path is free
But all you want to do is take that away from me
I don’t care much for the outside I’ll stay right here
Will anyone care if I disappear?
To the rocks, I am but a king among being
They hail to me as heir to the throne
Which one of us is told, time and time?
They’re the exact same thing but one is sparing
You can follow me through my pure airing
Your skyscrapers and moving cars are all delusions
Why am I wrong to see the shadow?
Maybe you’re upside down and not done with your bow
We still have some collisions with our exclusion
My mother shadow on the wall
Kept me clean and watched me grow tall
Society left me, as a member in the station of these walls
The sunlight will take me and burn me up
Shadow may I ask of you… what should I do?
I’ve been dreaming for so long I forgot what I was after
I never thought I’d see the day where you were standing next to me
My shield, in a shrine, the shroud
This is my shroud the sun brings burning
Shadow may I ask of you… what should I do?
I am eternally cuffed to these rocks
You can deny my true dream, but you’ll never break these locks
I’ve been lost in a dream for so long I forgot what I was after
I never thought I’d see the day where you were standing here
