Planted Weeds Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Planted Weeds

Every field,
Seen near and far.
Could be seeded to bloom,
With an array of diversity.
Reflecting to display and magnify,
The greatness of Earth's beauty.
Undeniably identified to recognize.

Yet...
There are so many inhabiting the Earth,
With a purpose and unconscious neccesity...
To plant their weeds of choking greed.
Continuously that promises,
An effective pollution...
Of those possessed with selfishness.
And obsessed to have themselves,
Exclusively to feast.

Determined.
And limited to a tunnel vision.
That their planted weeds,
Of a greeding selfishly.
Has nothing to do,
With a beauty that could be.
Since this to do would leave,
Them less to feast upon.
As they suspect.
And a diversity to seed it,
Will begin to have their activities...
Left without any attention to get.

And to be ignored,
With all there is that diversity offers.
Provides and gives.
Is their only concern and main objective.
To avoid the possibility,
Of being ignored and not contributing...
That reflects what diversity is.
Yet...
Many can not accept this.
Even though...
This is what the Earth has been,
Since its creation!
With all that lives upon it to evolve.

Like a caterpillar involved,
With a process undisturbed...
Becomes a butterfly.
Even those planting weeds,
Can not with determination re-create.
To claim it theirs to make.
Although...
Without hesitation or thought can destroy!
