In the Land of the Pharaohs,
in some distant past,
both top-notch and zeroes
were ruled by their caste.
And a new king, a callow iconoclast,
until he met Nefertitti.

Nefertitti! Perfect One!
Your brother's prospect bride.
Nefertitti. Near undone,
when alas he died.

Akhenaten! Lord of the Sun!
Awake and be heartened
for your time's begun!
Akhenaten! Now you're the one,
ascending the staircase to heaven.

In the Land of the Pharaohs,
in some distant past,
the icon was hallowed,
by each kiln and cast;
from the painter of limestone,
to the liquid fire blast,
stares back the young goddess:
Nefertitti!

Nefertitti! Perfect One!
More than mere beauty too.
Groomed as wife to the elder son;
but she did her duty for you.

Akhenaten! Lord of the Sun!
She was both mistress
and pure vestal nun.
You plant the seed; so life
is now sprung, from your fertile
young wife, Nefertitti.

In the Land of the Pharaohs,
in some distant past,
life might have seemed longer
if lived very fast.
But theirs was a culture
so built to last, at least
as long as their great tombs'
graffiti.


Akhenaten! Lord of the Sun!
Old gods forsaken;
while their idols were shunned.
Akhenaten! Second to none,
not counting, of course,
Nefertitti.

Nefertitti! Perfect One!
Cunning and witty was she.
You were putty in her hands,
to mould like destiny.

In the Land of the Pharaohs,
in some distant past,
the ancients were heroes
with empires vast.
On message their stele
tell of power unsurpassed;
how great kings would crush
rebel cities.

Akhenaten! Lord of the Sun!
The awe of you,
strikes all dumb or stunned.
Akhenaten! Your name is a pun,
for all divine rulers
whose will must be done.

Nefertitti! Perfect One!
More than mere pretty was she.
Nefertitti's web was spun,
with intrigue and mystery.

Akhenaten! Lord of the Sun!
Your sacred disc,
warms everyone.
Akhenaten! The whole human sum;
with the unnumbered dreams,
of conquests to come!
