Ph: Humor: The Mystery Of Empty Space Poem by Brian Johnston

Ph: Humor: The Mystery Of Empty Space

Rating: 5.0

The vacuum of space is quite real: it's not nothing!
And Science found proof that there's no ether either
(still air that 'life' moves through at walk and won't notice.)
For Physics, a problem was born that was trouble!
All light gets diffracted (1) , refracted (2) (things wave-like)
though waves move in matter (like waves on an ocean
or sound waves in air) .But a vacuum's an absence
of substance, it seems, and light's movement continues,
a paradox, hinting a link to what's massive.

The truth evolved slowly, and boy, it proved something -
that matter is wave-like (Whew! I need a breather!) ,
light-waves have momentum! (Perverse! How's this justice?)
But Trump's folk can't bend, see his truth's just a bubble!
Can vacuous thoughts be substantive, so childlike,
that nothing can touch? Think I feel a commotion,
brain's waves are diffracting; void's mass-warp makes new sense!
Some folk, sure Trump's great, are seduced by Grand menus!
No meat! Breast milk wins! You feel hungry? Christ's passive!

Poet's Notes:
(1) Diffracted Light - The waves of a beam of light spreads out after
passing through two narrow apertures, after which the spreading
waves can create interference patterns.
(2) Refracted Light - A ray of light changes direction as it passes from
one media into another as from air (or water) into a glass plate or lens.
