POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Poet's Notes:
Haiku #1 -Since the word 'haiku implies its own definition, all three lines contain the eventual haiku elements such as seasonal references, .breaks, etc. and it does resemble a 3 floor building!
Haiku is by definition minimalist pursuit where less is better and this is a haiku about haiku with less than 2 syllables per line.
Don't forget that other readers may see things that you don't as supposedly haiku suggests very different things to different people! As an example, the top haiku suggests a desire to be close to God, the middle haiku the disdain the middle class has for those with lofty aspirations, and the bottom haiku a proud satisfaction of being the true foundation of society?
.
Haiku #2 is a photographic image of Haiku #1 pictured as resembling a skyscraper on an unstable base. One possible interpretation... all human activity is vanity, especially writing haiku!
