POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I definitely vote for B - MIND'S EDGE BLUNTED I like the sound and impact of it. In fact, I developed my own interpretation before reading your notes. I saw the desert setting as symbolic of a spiritual crisis - the lassitude that grips a mind in profound despair, because it changes a garden world (which is what our world truly is) into a desert -I interpret the tears as the of the waters of life which nourish that mind and keep it balanced - If all the tears are shed and the inner self is completely dry, the character's case is terminal B-U-T if the tears awaken some memory or desire still flickering, they may prove redemptive.
